EARTH FIRST | PEOPLE FIRST

Better coffee together

We take ethical sourcing seriously. We are a Fairtrade-licensed roastery and produce a range of Fairtrade Organic blends and single-origin coffees.

Avoiding waste and single-use packaging has been a focus for Prima since our inception in 1995. Over 10 years ago, Prima was the first coffee roaster in New Zealand to adopt compostable packaging for our fresh coffee. Since then we’ve taken a number of steps to avoid materials from our business being sent to landfill. We apply the Zero Waste Hierarchy to our waste minimisation efforts. We focus firstly on designing out waste, then reducing and reusing. Where that hasn’t been possible we recycle or compost.

Best in the south

"The best coffee on south island! We traveled a lot and had a lot of very good coffees, but not one could beat the Prima ones 😋."
