Coffee-flation

To our valued customers. As many of you know the coffee industry has been hit especially hard over the last 12 months with large increases in the cost of green coffee.

There are a number of reasons for this including total harvested supply being much lower than usual due to growing conditions in Brazil, as well as shipping cost increases and exchange rates.

Here at Prima we value people and hold ethical and sustainable sourcing as a key requirement of our business. So the recent increase in coffee price is largely positive. For a portion of the worlds coffee farmers who were previously being paid unsustainable prices for their crop it has been a necessity.

On top of increased coffee prices, we have felt the pressures of general inflation here in New Zealand affecting almost all elements of our business over the past year.

Our team here in Christchurch are experiencing increased costs of living themselves and it’s important to us that we’re able to continue to provide fair compensation and a great working environment.

So in order to account for all of this we have decided that we need to increase our prices across many of our coffee products. Of course we think that our coffee is still some of the best value available and we intend to keep it that way. We hope you think so too and understand our need to make these changes.
